This month the Business Professional Women of Englewood and Venice are having our August 20th meeting as a lunch time from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. It will be in the same location, Plantation Golf and Country Club. We are honored to have the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County as our speaker.
They will discuss the six (6) amendments that will be on the General Election Ballot in November. Two of the most consequential on the ballot- guaranteeing access to abortion and legalizing recreational marijuana. The other four have to do with public campaign financing and creating a right to hunt and fish. The other (2) amendments would make school board elections partisan, and the homestead measure would require annual adjustments to a chunk of homestead exemption. The League of Women Voters Sarasota County is nonpartisan. We hope to become more informed voters after this educational session.
